ur car pool will leave from Lake Rose (near Rio Pinar Shopping Center), Orlando, FL, at 7:00 AM, Friday, and arrive back at Orlando between 6:00 and 7:00 PM, Sunday. For those outside of Central Florida, we will meet and check in at Comfort Inn, Florida City, FL, between noon and 2:00 PM. At 2:00 PM we will start out to Everglades National Park.We begin our photography session on Friday afternoon at the Royal Palm Visitor Center’s Anhinga Trail. In the early evening we head back to the hotel and freshen up. Then supper, followed by a critique of the day’s work. Saturday is an event-packed day with short hikes into the Everglades (mostly paved trails and boardwalks) and a boat trip into the mangroves to photograph alligators and other wildlife, and back to the hotel for the night. Sunday starts with a sunrise back at the Anhinga Trail. Then on to other points including Shark Valley and a favorite spot for Burrowing Owls.
In addition to your normal photo bag you will need a sturdy tripod and a lens of at least 300mm focal length (the longer the better, of course). There will be a pre-trip meeting on Wednesday, March 4, from 7–9 PM with a slide lecture on methods and equipment. There will also be a follow-up "show & tell" meeting on Friday, March 13 from 7–9 PM. Call Milton Heiberg at
